Why Book A Maternity Session At Little Somewhere Photography Studio?
At Little Somewhere Photography Studio, which is located just on the border between Newcastle and Northumberland,, maternity sessions are relaxed, natural, and completely pressure-free. When I was pregnant, I struggled to find a photographer who would simply capture me and my bump without the big dresses, staged sets, or over-the-top posing. That experience inspired me to create something different here.
During your session, I’ll gently guide you through simple, flattering poses that feel easy and comfortable, while still showing off your beautiful bump. The focus is on connection - between you, your partner, your family, and the little one you’re waiting to meet.
You’re welcome to choose from my collection of maternity dresses, or wear something that feels most like you. Either way, the goal is to capture this special time in a way that feels authentic.

How Do Maternity Photoshoots Work?
Before the session, we will discuss the style of images you would like to create - you’re more than welcome to send over some examples too! I have a range of maternity dresses, or you’re welcome to wear something of your choosing.
When you arrive, you’re welcome to try on any of my dresses, then we will head to my ‘Whispering Whites Room’ which is the large studio where your photoshoot will take place. I will guide you through a range of poses - most ladies haven’t done anything like this before, so don’t worry, you don’t have to have any experience! Partners and children are welcome to get involved too if you’ve booked my ‘Embrace’ Package.
I attended a maternity shoot with Sophie a couple of weeks ago and it was such a great experience. From arrival she made me feel at ease and the vibe of studio was so laid back. The Questions I get Asked Most About Maternity Photoshoots
When is the best time to book a maternity photoshoot?
The best time to book is during your second trimester to secure a space. Photoshoots usually take place between 28-34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully visible but you’re still comfortable.
What if I feel nervous or not confident in front of the camera?
You’re definitely not alone - most people feel like this! My sessions are really relaxed and gently guided, so you don’t need to worry about posing or knowing what to do.
What should I wear for my maternity photoshoot?
I recommend soft, neutral tones and outfits that show your bump naturally. Flowing dresses, fitted knits or simple underwear-style looks all work beautifully - I’m always happy to help you choose beforehand. I have a selection of dresses available to use or you can bring something or your own.
Can my partner or children be included?
Of course - maternity sessions are about your growing family, so partners and little ones are always welcome if you book my ‘Embrace’ Package
How long does a maternity session last?
Sessions are usually around an hour, keeping things relaxed without being too tiring.
Do you provide hair and makeup?
I don’t currently offer hair and makeup, but most of my clients keep things simple and natural which works beautifully for this style of session. If you’d prefer to have it done professionally, then that’s completely up to you!
What if I don’t feel my best during pregnancy?
That’s completely normal. My aim is to create a calm, comfortable environment where you can relax, and I’ll guide you in a way that feels natural and flattering.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just your outfits and anything personal you’d like included. I’ll guide you ahead of your session so you feel fully prepared.
When will I see my photos?
You’ll be provided with an online gallery to proof and select your favourite images within a week of the session.
Can I book maternity and newborn together?
Yes - lots of families choose to book both so their journey is captured from bump to baby. You can find out more information here.
